General Description: The plant is native to the tropical coastal regions of India but is grown in similar regions throughout the world. The rhizome is an underground stem that is quite fibrous. It is easily recognised by its buds which are the embryo stems and is available almost everywhere as a culinary plant. Used in many ways especially in aromatherapy for its heating properties
