UK Orders

Payments and Placing Orders
All orders placed over the Internet should be accompanied by the correct amount of money in the form of
A cheque/money order
All credit cards accepted, except AMEX (American Express)
For credit card payments it is necessary to give the name of the card, the number, the name of the person on the card and the expiry date. For Switch cardholders the Switch issue number is also required. The address where the credit card statements are sent is also required, especially if different to the delivery and invoice addresses. In certain circumstances credit card companies may not authorise payment and ask the company to refer back to the card holder. Should this happen you will be advised.
Credit card numbers are not kept after the transaction. We are currently registered with the Data Protection Act.

For cheque payments, the cheque will need to be cleared before the goods are despatched.

As an alternative to the Internet, orders can be placed

by telephone
by fax
by letter and mailed to our office
Again payment may be made using credit cards or a cheque/money order.

Cash should NEVER be sent by post.

Delivery Charges
Please add &#pound;5.50 towards P&P if the Net price indicated on the order is below &#pound;60 within the UK ONLY. The Net value refers to the cost of the goods before adding the delivery charge and the VAT. Hence, the Net value excludes the delivery charge and the VAT. An order for &#pound;60 or over is delivered post-free within the UK ONLY.

Normal and Timed Deliveries
For UK deliveries, the carrier currently used is Parcel Force.

For the normal delivery service despatched goods may arrive
at any time during the day (working day).
We offer a special timed delivery service where goods that are despatched can arrive at the destination between three time frames. Parcel Force delivery time frames are
morning (2 working days)
afternoon (2 working days)
evening (2 working days)
This special timed delivery MUST be prearranged through our office and there is an added charge for this service. We also offer a special next working day timed delivery service. Again, this special timed delivery MUST be prearranged through our office and there is an added charge for this service. Because of the prohibitive cost and unreliability of Saturday deliveries we no longer arrange these. Deliveries are never made on a Sunday. The term 'Working day' refers to Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.

Despatch of Goods
Every effort is made to send out goods as quickly as possible. Expect 3 to 5 working days for delivery in the UK ONLY. It should be noted that occasionally where special items or certain oils are required, there might be a delay. Royal Mail will be used to send low value and small items. A suitable carrier (usually 'Parcel Force') will normally be used to send high value and large parcels. When a carrier delivers to a private address (your home) or office the parcel has to be signed for. Damage or shortages in delivered goods should be notified in the first instance by telephone and within seven working days in writing. After seven days NO item will be exchanged or replaced.

Export Orders
Payments
Payment for Export orders will only be accepted when made by Major Credit Cards or International Money Order transfers through a bank. Export orders will only be despatched when our bank has cleared your payment. Credit card numbers are not kept after the transaction.

Freight Payment
Payment of Export shipments will be "Freight Forward" in all cases. All export freight charges have to be paid by the customer.

In the United States it is cheaper for the customer to have an account with UPS and orders sent “charge collect”.
Suitable carriers can quote all shipping charges.
Parcel Force is the main carrier used by Butterbur and Sage Ltd and can deliver to most countries. You the customer can use Parcel Force or can choose to use an alternative carrier.

Currency
All payments MUST be made in GBP (Great British Pound). GBP is also referred to as Sterling.

Prices and Price Fluctuations
Prices at Butterbur & Sage are quoted excluding VAT. Due to price fluctuations, prices may be altered without any notification.

VAT Requirements
For VAT requirements click here. All prices are exclusive of VAT @ 17.5% in the UK and the EEC. However, VAT does not apply to the rest of the world.

Availability
The company stocks over 170 oils and absolutes and stock levels are carefully maintained. As aromatics come from all parts of the world, sometimes events may make certain items unobtainable. Where these events occur alternative sources may be used if at all possible. We will always advise you of this.

Health and Safety
Individual customers cannot hold the company responsible for the misuse of its products.
Essential Oils should not be used internally.
Essential oils should only be used externally in the diluted form as advised.
Please note that some oils or absolutes may irritate cosmetically sensitive skin.

We are registered with the Data Protection Act 1998 which protects your private information. At Butterbur & Sage Ltd., we want you to enjoy your shoping experience in the safe knowledge that any information provided by you at you discretion, whether it be credit card information or personal information, is only accessible by you (after you have entered your password).
